Long story short too late.
Most people don’t associate Star Wars with the 70s anymore given how epic and sprawling it’s become. Aside from a brief period in the late 80s and early 90s, it’s been around forever now. For me though, I can’t disassociate the original Star Wars from being a kid in the 70s. And I don’t mean the disco days. I lived in a small rural town, and had a very young father. Every Star Wars discussion I heard in the first six years in my life happened in the back of a van, in a cloud of pot with Led Zepplin on the 8-Track.
To me, the original Star Wars makes me think of 70s hard rock, stoners and wanna be Frank Frazetta artwork airbrushed on the side of a panel van. This image is trying to capture that.
